The vice project was something that I was tasked with during a summer TA appointment. I was given the job of coming up with a machining project for the University of Minnesota's Design and Manufacturing course that was less resource intensive than the existing project. Ultimately a small vice was selected for its simplicity and functionality.
Both a computer model and a prototype were produced over the summer. The project was well received and is under consideration for introduction into the regular course curriculum.
